Traditional, Unique, palm leaf engraving art of Radha-Krishna, L-26, W-22cm

One of the most ancient crafts of the world,  paintings on the palm leaf still thrives in the state of odisha.  Palm leaf engravings or TALA PATRA CHITRA or POTHI CHITRA is one of the traditional method of painting. After processing the palm leaf as per the required size, these are sewn together to form a canvas for tracing the images by a sharp pointed iron tool known as lekhani. Black and white ink are used to fill grooves etched on rows of equal sized  panels of palm leaf that are sewn together.
